The role of the instrument-maker in the history of music

FREE ONLINE TALK
  • In the story of music-making, the relationship between the development of instruments and the development of music is a good example of the classic chicken and egg conundrum. Daniel Bangham will not try to answer that question, but will share his thoughts and experiences on the topic, musing on some of the characters he has met and the influence they have had.

Daniel Bangham is the founder and director of Cambridge Woodwind Makers and an internationally renowned classical clarinet maker. He has been making classical clarinets since 1984 and has successfully helped students with no prior handwork skill to complete fantastic instruments.  Daniel’s instrument-making and repair workshop opened in 1981. It is now Wood, Wind & Reed, a specialist music shop in Cambridge.
